MISERABLE, wet and grey - and that was just the Race Officer for the day! Despite the grotty weather on this Jubilee day, there were eight starters for the Noon race.
At the gun it was Jane Anderson in her Topper just gaining seconds on the Laser Radials of Steve Axford & Bob Sampson though she was quickly passed by the larger sails.
Following in quick succession were the Duncalf Toppers John doing the honours and letting wife Vicki go ahead and then the Bosun of Commodore Simon Veal all in blue sails and crewed by John Bucket, the 420 of Adam Hilton fully supported by son Laurence and finally John Savage in his Solo who initially set off in the opposite direction to the rest of the fleet but soon found his way in that spanky yellow sail.
The boats disappeared in the fog at the far end of the lake at times but by the end of lap one the groups had sorted themselves out but with some interesting battles taking place.
