JJ?Jones Builders Duchy League
LAST Saturday saw a reduced programme across the Duchy Leagues but there was still plenty of drama created by the Post area teams.
In the Duchy Premier League, league leaders LC?Phoenix bounced back from their 7-1 defeat at home to St Stephen by picking up a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture. Jed Parnell grabbed the equaliser before half-time.
Bottom side Callington Town’s home clash with Torpoint Athletic was postponed.
Altarnun have shown a vast improvement over recent weeks, however they were no match for second-placed Bodmin as they fell to a 4-0 defeat in Division One.
Boscastle are now fighting for second in their bid for promotion after a 3-1 loss at St Merryn which confirmed Godolphin as champions. James Bosley grabbed their consolation.
Local rivals Tintagel picked up a valuable point in their bid for survival as they earned a 2-2 draw at home to North Hill. Sean Keeble and Nathan Mitchell were the home marksmen.
St Breward continue to look solid in mid-table after a 1-0 victory at Tregrehan Mills. The winning goal was a fluke as a wind-assisted long ball brushed the goalkeepers hand on its way into the net.
North Petherwin reserves’ big relegation battle with Grampound in Division Three never got started due to the weather while it was the same story for promotion-chasing St Minver at Tregony.
At Stoke Climsland the home side put in a horror defensive performance to lose 5-3 at home to promotion chasing Gorran. Dave Hollow, Jack Lowden and Mark Channing were on the scoresheet for mid-table Stoke.
In Division Four, St Teath Reserves put in a batting performance at home to their St Mawgan counterparts in a crunch ‘six-pointer’.
However, Steve Hackett’s winner left Jonny Strout’s side three points adrift of safety.
The match of the day across the Duchy League took place at Week St Mary where the home side held to league leaders Lamerton Community in a 12-goal thriller. The home scorers were Steve Short (2), Alex Harrison, Anthony Sachs, Max Garchia and Aled Thomas.
At the bottom of the league, Boscastle reserves got the better of St?Anns Chapel for the second week in a row thanks to Darren Hambly’s winner.
