Holsworthy 3 Falmouth Town Reserves 2
BEN Sharpe grabbed an injury-time winner as Holsworthy overcame in-form Falmouth Town Reserves on Saturday.
The Magpies were seemingly cruising to victory as Sharpe’s penalty was added to by Craig Penberthy’s spot-kick.
However, the visitors went into the game fourth for a reason and levelled in the second minute of injury-time before Sharpe’s heroics.
Holsworthy had lost their last four matches in all competitions and boss Kevin Squire, who was without several regulars due to injury, suspension and unavailability, switched things up including switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Holsworthy created some decent chances in the first half as man-of-the-match Ben Grech cut in off the left and forced a good save, while Sharpe could only head straight at Ethan Fearn from six yards.
But they did go in front 10 minutes before the break when another jinking run from Grech saw him fouled in the box, allowing Sharpe to open the scoring.
The second arrived within five minutes of the restart as Sharpe was clattered in the box, and with the frontman off getting his head injury assessed, Penberthy did the honours.
Sharpe could only find the side-netting just after the hour and Falmouth made the Magpies pay.
A Ryan Chadwick punch struck a visiting player and went in, before they levelled when Chadwick dropped the ball at a set-piece which soon ended in the goal. The scorers were Jak Davies and Thomas Fisher.
But with time ticking down, Chris Wildern’s brilliant cross from the left was headed into the top corner by Sharpe from six yards to send the Magpies third.
