East Cornwall Premier Division
Tavistock 7
IN-FORM Tavistock completed the double over a Launceston side who find themselves firmly rooted to the bottom of the table following nine straight defeats.
The game was moved from the waterlogged Langsford Park pitch to the 3G pitch at Tavistock Community College.
Tavistock had to wait until the 23rd minute to take the lead, when the visitors’ goalkeeper spilled the ball and James Phelps fired it home.
Eight minutes later Launceston failed to clear their lines, leaving Scott Wellington to make it 2-0.
Within a minute, Jack Crago added the third, coming out on top in a one-on-one with the ‘keeper.
Any chance Launceston had of getting back in the match was lost when four minutes after the break, Wellington headed in a free-kick at the far post.
Scott Rennie then made it 5-0 before two goals in the final five minutes from a Wellington free-kick to complete his hat-trick and Matt Davidson put the game to bed.
