Sam Davey, Launceston AFC, Striker, Carlsberg South West Peninsula Premier
Who is the best player in your squad, and why?
Liam Tilley — gifted on the ball and, even at 34 years old, he will put in more miles than anyone else on the pitch. Consistently class.
Who is the best team you have faced or expect to face this season?
Bodmin — we drew with them twice but you could tell they have the fire power to win the league. Paying out a lot of money generally wins you the South West Peninsula League.
Who is the best player you have or expect to face this season?
Jamie Lowery has been the best player on the pitch both times we’ve played Godolphin Atlantic, so he gets my vote.
What are your hopes for the season?
We’ve had too many draws and it does look like the top five is out of reach. I’d like to think we can go on a great end of season run and finish as high up the table as possible.
What has been your favourite moment of your football career so far?
Scoring a hat-trick in a 3-2 win against Cullompton and getting the biggest rollicking I’ve ever had in football by Lee Cooper in the changing room after for giving the ball away in the last minute. His words were “Don’t go home tonight thinking you’ve been a good player, you almost cost us, I hope you choke on your steak tonight!” That moment made me want to shut him up and I scored just over 100 goals in three seasons for him, which I am proud of!
