Hutchings Cup final
Bridgerule 3
Appledore Lions 4
APPLEDORE Lions retained their Hutchings Cup title by beating Bridgerule in a seven-goal classic at Holsworthy Football Club.
Bridgerule started the game well as they passed the ball around with ease. But Appledore went ahead when a header from Steve Pitts slipped through the keeper’s hands.
Todd Peschke levelled the scores with a low shot from outside the area before his well struck free-kick early in the second-half put them in front.
At 2-1 down needed some magic and it was Tom Gleeson who provided it as he hammered in a 20-minute hat-trick to break Bridgerule’s hearts.
Peschke pulled one back ten minutes from time but Appledore held on to make it back-to-back Hutchings Cup titles.
