Bodmin Town 7

ANDREW Neal hit his eighth hat-trick of the season as Bodmin showed no festive spirit on Boxing Day, hammering local rivals Camelford 7-0 at Priory Park.

The Bodmin topscorer has been red-hot since his move from Tiverton Town earlier this season and he gave his side the lead mid-way through the first half before Adam Carter helped himself to the next two goals.

Neal then added a fourth before the break, with Glynn Hobbs, on as a substitute for Carter, bagging a fifth on the hour.

The hat-trick was completed by Neal 20 minutes from time with Hobbs completing the rout as he bagged his second of the late morning clash.

Bodmin now sit three points clear at the top of the Peninsula Premier division, ahead of reigning champions St Austell with a game in hand.

The Camels, sitting bottom-but-one, face a trip to basement club St Blazey this Saturday, with both teams look for only their second win of the campaign.

Holsworthy 2

Bude Town 0

A BIG result for Holsworthy saw the side from Upcott Field climb five places in the League table after a thoroughly efficient performance.

Adam Smith scored a goal in each half of a fairly scrappy game that Holsworthy deserved to win, although goalkeeper Ryan Walter played his part with a couple of brilliant saves to thwart Bude Town.

The opener arrived on 20 minutes when Smith was brought down for a penalty and dusted himself down to confidently convert from 12 yards. Paul Banks then spurned a couple of chances for the hosts before Walter stepped up to deny Bude in spectacular fashion.

The game remained fairly tight after the break until a surging run down the right by Ryan Lee culminated in a delicious cross for Smith to confirm all three points with a back-post header.
