SOUTH WEST PENINSULA LEAGUE PREMIER WEST
Wadebridge Town 0 Camelford 3
CAMELFORD bounced back from consecutive defeats by winning at Wadebridge Town for the second time this season.
The Camels had already advanced in the Cornwall Senior Cup at Bodieve Park, but travelled off the back of disappointing defeats to both Bude Town and Millbrook in their quest to close down Callington Town in fourth.
The visitors enjoyed the majority of possession and chances in the first half, going close twice through top-scorer Ryan Downing and midfielder Kenley Dyson, before they took the lead on the stroke of half-time.
Some cute interplay between Mark Gusterson and returning midfielder Jacob Ham ended with the latter rounding Rob Rosevear and making no mistake.
Within a minute of the restart Camelford were 2-0 up as Gusterson, running in off the angle some 30 yards out, took a pass from Ross Beare and fired in.
The hosts enjoyed more of the ball in second half and created some moments, but the defence, led by man-of-the-match Tom Crowe held firm and ensured keeper Cory Harvey had little to do.
Veteran midfielder Andy Boxall was introduced on the hour for Ham, while Joseph Parr was brought on five minutes later and nearly had an immediate impact as he cut inside before firing just wide of the far post.
Camelford supporters were left with the local bragging rights and had a third goal to cheer as injury-time approached as Downing took the ball centrally before lifting the ball over a defender before running through and finding the back of the net.
