North Devon Football League latest round-up

MORWENSTOW made it back-to-back home wins on Saturday as they eased past Braunton 4-1 at Shop Playing Field.

The Greens had beaten Torridgeside Reserves 3-0 a week earlier as they look to progress higher up the Premier Division table, and continued from where they had left off.

Summer signing from Bude Town, Finn Reeve, netted twice for the Cornish outfit who also saw Phil Horton and Jake Gilbert once again find the target in a convincing display which moved them up to third in the table with four wins and two defeats from their six outings.

League rivals Bradworthy – who have five points from their four games – were in Devon Premier Cup action at South Zeal United and headed back to North Devon with a place in the next round courtesy of a 4-1 success. Niall Slade netted twice for the Horniwinks with the scoring rounded off by Nathan Slade and an own goal.

Shebbear United and Putford both took a break from league action following their tough starts in the Senior Division, however both will demand an immediate response following two pastings in the Devon Intermediate Cup.

Putford lost 9-0 at Clyst Valley just outside of Exeter as they conceded six before the break, four of which went to Ben Aiken.

Shebbear did at least have a home date, but were thrashed by the same scoreline by former South West Peninsula League outfit Witheridge.

With North Devon League Intermediate One leaders Morwenstow Reserves having the day off, the only other Post area side in action were Holsworthy Thirds who produced a first win of the season in dominant fashion.

They eased past visiting Northam Lions Reserves 5-1 at Stanhope Park with Rory Piper (2), Richard Bore, Gary Brownjohn and Malih Ussy all on target.
