Duchy League
THE weather again caused the postponement of many Duchy games, but concerted efforts by many others allowed a reasonable number to be played.
St Minver took another step towards the Premier Division title beating Foxhole 5-1. Ted Meagor chipped them into a 22nd minute lead, before Andy Seymour doubled the lead after a shot rebounded off the keeper in the 38th minute.
The visitors’ chances receded just after half time when Martin Giles was sent off for a deliberate handball on the line and Corey Cleave struck home the resulting penalty.
Foxhole fought back to earn a penalty of their own converted by Ryan Wilkins, but two late goals sealed the home win. Ryan Pooley scored Minver’s fourth with Richard Simmons curled in the fifth.
Callington Town, leaders of Division One, reversed the fixture against Gerrans & St Mawes United to an away game and lost their perfect record when beaten 2-1. A soft pitch, difficult wind and an inspired opponent proved their downfall. Charlie Andrew and Charlie Jones scored for GSM with Phil Wearing claiming the Callington goal.
Gunnislake switched their home game with AFC Bodmin to Tavistock College’s 3G pitch. The first half was goalless but an early second half goal from Harry Southcott and one near the end from James Andrew gave the ‘hosts’ a 2-0 win.
Veryan go back to the top of Division Two following a 4-0 defeat of North Hill. Chris Rockell missed a penalty for the visitors before the hosts took the lead from a Dan Vincent goal. Justin Trebilcock also missed a penalty for Veryan in the first half. Craig Phillips scored a brace after the break, one from a header and the second a tap in. Bobby Lee Johns secured the win with a last minute goal.
Tintagel beat Lifton 3-2. Martin Cockcroft scored a brace for the hosts with Ollie Price getting their other goal.
Stoke Climsland and Godolphin Atlantic shared six goals, which does little to help either club’s relegation fears. Rob Cleveland scored a brace for Stoke with Kieran Ryall completing their tally. Godolphin replied through Callum Gadney, a Jack Scott penalty and an own goal.
Delabole United are now just a point behind St Merryn in third in Division Three after a fine win at Tregony. They won 7-1 with Glen Burrell scoring four goals. Jordan Blanchard, Mac Irwin and Kieran Barrett completed the visitors’ tally with Shaun Pickering getting the Tregony consolation.
