North Devon League round-up

BRADWORTHY fell to their second successive defeat in the North Devon Premier after losing 2-0 at home to Shamwickshire Rovers.

The local derby between Bridgerule and Holsworthy Reserves in the Senior Division went the way of the Magpies as Holsworthy left Vinnicombe Park 5-3 victors.

The visitors led 2-0 at half-time through Joel Greening’s double, the first a brilliant overhead-kick the second a shot that squirmed through goalkeeper Shaun Clifford.

Dave Andrew made it 3-0 shortly after the break before Jacob Nosworthy and Sennen Smith scored within ten minutes of the second-half.

Ian Rowe blasted in a long-range free-kick to make it four before Brendan Hearn again brought Bridgerule to within one.

However despite forcing visiting keeper Ryan Chadwick into a couple of saves, Ben Sharpe added a fifth late on.

Kilkhampton started their campaign by thrashing Barnstaple 9-1 at Lamb Park.

Luke Darke notched a hat-trick with Ryan Thomas (2), Ben Thomas, Ewan Reeves, Matthew Jones and an own goal rounding off the scoring.

The reserve teams of Morwenstow and Bridgerule both lost away from home in Intermediate Two.

Although Yassen Cook added his third in just two games, Morwenstow were soundly beaten 9-1 at Kingsley Wizards.

At Combe Martin, Bridgerule lost by an odd goal in seven, Kevin Manger notching a hat-trick.

It was a similar tale in Intermediate Three as both Ashwater and Bradworthy Reserves lost their openers.

Steven Hill was the scorer as Ashwater were defeated 7-1 at home to Braunton fifths while Ben Neville-Jones was on target for Bradworthy in their 5-1 reversal at Barnstaple Reserves.
