LAUNCESTON will look to make it successive league wins tomorrow when they welcome Bodmin Town to Pennygillam in the Carlsberg South West Pensinula League Premier Division (3pm).

The managerless Clarets’ 2-1 victory against Camelford — which was secured thanks to a late winner from Tallan Mitchell — was just their second since winning by the same scoreline at Falmouth Town back in September.

The result ensured they moved level on points with third-bottom Camelford who will look for their first win in 14 starts when they welcome 12th-placed Ivybridge Town to Trefrew Park (3pm).

With the likes of Adam Sleep and Martin Haynes back in the fold last weekend, the Camels’ injury list is starting to shorten and they usually enjoy a purple patch towards the end of the season.

If Camelford win, Reg Hambly’s side would move to within a point of Callington, if they fail to pick up at least a draw at home to mid-table Helston Athletic at Ginsters Marshfield Parc.

Ryan Lucassi scored an 88th minute equaliser last Saturday in a 1-1 draw with Elburton Villa so Callington will fancy their chances.

In Division One (West), both Bude Town and Holsworthy will look to bounce back from defeats although both have their work cut out.

Town will hope that they can perform like they did in the last 15 minutes of their 2-1 defeat at Penzance when they welcome leaders Porthleven to Broadclose Park (3pm). The Fisherman thrashed Bude 6-0 in the reverse fixture although the Seasiders are much better at home and beat sixth-placed Plymstock United in their last outing in North Cornwall.

Holsworthy manager Liam Dart admitted his side weren’t good enough in a 3-0 loss to third-placed St Dennis last Saturday. Despite that, they’ll make the long trip to Penzance with designs of finishing in the top six come May.

With nine games left, they’re six points off Plymstock with two games in-hand but will be overtaken by the Magpies if they lose.

With Launceston Reserves not in action until March 23 and their Callington counterparts in League Cup action, focus on Post area teams in the Mortgage Advice Bureau East Cornwall League switches to Division One and the League Cup quarter-finals.

Callington — sixth in the Premier — go to Mevagissey, who are fourth in Division One while the tie of the last eight sees promotion-chasing St Minver entertain Torpoint Athletic Reserves who are flying high in the Premier.

In Division One, Morwenstow travel to Newquay after beating them 8-0 only 15 days ago while bottom club St Teath go to Roche.

In the JJ Jones and Sons Duchy League, Boscastle — fresh off scoring ten goals in their last two outings — head to fourth-placed Godolphin Atlantic while North Petherwin, who are ninth and just a point behind Boscastle — will look to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Torpoint Athletic thirds when they welcome St Dennis.

Stoke Climsland’s 3-2 victory over Holywell and Cubert last Saturday saw them climb to the top of Duchy One, but they take a week off from league action as they head to league rivals AFC Bodmin in the KMD Developments Knockout Cup quarter-final.

At the other end of the division, North Hill will look for a first win of the season at the 15th attempt as they entertain mid-table St Cleer.

Gunnislake are also safely in the middle of the league and are at home to second bottom Queens Rangers. Wins for both will see North Hill leapfrog Rangers.

Fourth-placed St Breward, who are going along nicely in fourth with 23 points from 14 games, go to St Merryn.

Division Two leaders Altarnun have just seven fixtures left to go through the 20-game season unbeaten as they prepare for their trip to Pelynt tomorrow.

The two sides met last Saturday in North Cornwall with Sam Smith (3) and Adam Porter (2) impressing in a 5-0 win.

Tintagel are also doing well having struggled in recent years and could move up to second if they win at Lamerton Community, who they drew 2-2 with in February.

Lifton should make it back-to-back victories when they go to struggling Grampound while St Minver Reserves make the long trip to Gorran.

With Southgate Seniors not in action, the remaining games in the Duchy League take place in Division Four.

Leaders Bude Town Reserves enjoyed a weekend off last Saturday but know they can ill-afford to slip up at St Ann’s Chapel with Nanpean Rovers breathing down their neck.

Bude are a point ahead and have a game in-hand which will be used tomorrow as Rovers are in Shoe Boy Duchy League Cup quarter-final action. Boscastle Reserves welcome Division Four side Foxhole Stars Reserves (2pm) in the same competition.

Lifton Reserves are the best of the rest in Division Four and have a derby date with their North Petherwin counterparts, who although bottom, have improved in recent weeks to win three times.

If they are victorious and third from last Lostwithiel Reserves lose at in-form Delabole United, Petherwin will move level on points with Lostwithiel.

However, if Lostwithiel win then Week St Mary will leapfrog Delabole into sixth provided they can pull off a great victory at fourth-placed St Cleer Reserves.

Bradworthy have had a fortnight to rest and recuperate ahead of their run-in in the North Devon League’s Premier Division, starting with tomorrow’s trip to fourth-bottom Barnstaple Town and Pilton Academicals.

If they can win, they’ll move level on points with their hosts in a tight race to avoid relegation.

Shebbear United have no such worries in the league below and can attack their final six games knowing they’re unlikely to go up or down. They drew 1-1 at home to leaders Boca Seniors Reserves last weekend and face an instant rematch against a Boca side who dropped their first points of the season in that game.

Kilkhampton’s promotion push has taken a hit in the last two week’s following successive home defeats and they’re in action once more at Lamb Park when they welcome West Putford in Intermediate One.

Despite the blip, they are just a point off second-placed North Molton Sports Club Reserves with a game in-hand.

Bridgerule and Holsworthy Reserves played out an excellent 2-2 draw last time out and both will take to the field confident of all three points.

Bridgerule go to Northam Lions with the Magpies entertaining their Appledore counterparts at Upcott Field.

Morwenstow Reserves have conceded plenty of goals in recent weeks and will have their work cut out when they go to leaders Braunton thirds in Intermediate Two while Bridgerule Reserves are on their travels to basement side Woolsery.

In Intermediate Three, struggling Ashwater will look to build on their excellent 2-2 draw at home to Kingsley Wizards when they welcome mid-table Eastside.

The only side below them in the North Devon pyramid, Bradworthy Reserves could go above them when they go to Kingsley Park.

Third-bottom Shebbear United Reserves, who are nine points above Ashwater with a game in-hand, are at home to Combe Martin Reserves.

In the Macron Devon and Exeter League, Halwill’s Saturday sides are in action in Divisions Two and Four respectively.

The firsts, fresh off an 8-0 win over Priory, go to Axminster Town Reserves, who are five points further ahead in lower mid-table, while the seconds, who are chasing promotion, entertain Alphington thirds.

See next week’s Post for all the scores.
