Duchy League Round Up

PREMIER Division leaders Pelynt lost their unbeaten record going down to a 4-1 defeat at St Minver. Rob Green put the hosts two ahead before Ryan Oxley pulled a goal back. Green scored a superb goal to complete his hat trick and quickly restore the hosts’ two goal advantage. Near the end Corey Cleave added their fourth from the spot.

North Petherwin were beaten 1-0 at home by St Mawgan. Andy Willmott scored the only goal early on picking up the loose scraps from a corner kick. Petherwin bombarded the visitors’ goal seeking an equaliser but were denied by an inspired display by the visitors ‘keeper who was equal to everything the home forwards could throw at him.

Lee Paxton gave Premier Sixes a first half lead at home to Altarnun in Division One. Sam Smith equalised after thirty minutes leading to a period where the visitors had a stranglehold on the game. Sixes then hit them with two goals in the final two minutes of the half. Ryan Martin scored the first with Dan Woodgate heading the third on the stroke of half time. Ryan Martin scored a superb fourth from a tight angle into the top corner but a good Altarnun side gained some further reward with a Stuart Cole penalty ten minutes from time with Sixes holding on for a 4-2 win.

Callington Town had another fine victory beating Sticker 3-0. Kieran Prescott scored a brace with Liam Bryant adding the other goal.

Veryan remain imperious at the top of Division Two although they were given a battle before securing a 2-0 win at Boscastle. Veryan are yet to concede a goal this season with Alex Pearce scoring both their goals.

It was honours even at St Cleer where Godolphin Atlantic fought out a two all draw. Ed Bradshaw and Chris Jowitt scored for St Cleer with Alex Scott and Harrie Tilston replying.

St Breward secured their first win of the season in a game where both teams surrendered a lead at one stage. They beat Derby rivals Tintagel 5-3. Shaun Keeble scored a brace with Adam Wright the other Tintagel scorer. St Breward picked up the points after a brace apiece from Karl Croft and Martin Jago and a Dan Mountain goal.

Calstock came from three goals down to draw three apiece with Queens Rangers. Chris Bruton scored a brace with Lee Webb getting the other goal in the hosts’ great comeback.

St Merryn, the overnight leaders of Division Three, were poor at home to St Minver reserves but scrapped their way to a 2-1 win. The hosts were weakened by a fire call, which took away two of their players before the game. St Minver went ahead with a poor deflected goal that went in off Ben Cleave. Kevin Allen equalised with Josh Dark firing home a penalty to give the hosts the spoils.

Shane Kibell scored four goals as a strong Gorran side thrashed Delabole United 7-1. Jack Bray-Smith, James Rogers and an own goal completed the home tally. Kieran Barrett replied with the Delabole consolation.

A strong Pensilva side won their Division Four clash at Southgate Seniors 4-0. Jon Filbey scored a hat trick with Mike Rendle getting the other goal.

Roche were far too organised for a lackluster Kilkhampton side and strode to a 7-0 win. Bradley Tucker, Cesar Gurrea in his debut, Lee Tarbuck, Ben Lawrence, Andy Geach, Neil Trudgeon and Lewis Burnett scored a goal apiece.

Rame Peninsula beat Padstow United 5-1. Zack Rosen and Connor McHale scored a brace apiece with Luke Robinson completing their tally while Dale Walsh scored the visitors consolation.

Steve Hill and Steve Short scored a brace apiece as Week St Mary beat Lostwithiel reserves 5-1. The other home goal came from a Tyler Cummings own goal with James Facey getting the visitors consolation.

Boscastle reserves, fresh from their first win of the season last week, caused an upset in the TJ International Reserve Team Cup first round winning 1-0 at higher division Saltash United reserves. A frustrating afternoon for the home side ended in failure as Dean Favreau scored the only goal of the game.
