HOLSWORTHY boss Kevin Squire admitted Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Mousehole ‘capped off a thoroughly good week’ as they recorded a fourth win from six outings in the South West Peninsula League Premier West division.

The Magpies eased past their West Cornwall opponents at Upcott Field to build on recent victories over St Mawgan and Launceston.

A delighted Squire said: “We’ve had a really good week. After wins last Saturday on Tuesday the challenge for the players was not to waste the last couple of performances. They’ve listened to the gameplan and we were on top from minute one really.

“If anything, I felt we perhaps left a couple of goals out there in each half, but you’ll take 4-0 all day. I think my goalkeeper’s had to make one good save, and other than that was largely untroubled. The win caps off a thoroughly good day and a thoroughly good week.”

Squire also had words of praise for young winger Aaron Hart who scored the game’s outstanding goal.

He said: “I’ve been pleased for him. He’s had limited game time over the last six months wherever he’s been, but he’s been a breath of fresh air. He looks to play on the front foot and has done a lovely bit of skill before finding the bottom corner for his goal.”

Squire also hailed the attitude of his squad.

He said: “I say to everybody if you come on and make an impact you’ll be at the forefront of my plans for the next game. Those guys deserved their start and they thoroughly took their chance. They did really, really well as have the subs who came on today and made an impact. I’m pleased for all of them, but overall I gave the man-of-the-match to Gavin Carter. His aggression in the first half was really good and epitomised our performance.”
