Carlsberg South West Peninsula League

Premier Division

Exmouth Town 1

Launceston 5

SAM Davey scored a hat-trick as Launceston collected their first league points of 2018 with a five-goal demolition of Exmouth Town.

The Clarets hit the ground running and were in front inside four minutes as top-scorer Davey turned provider for Jack Alexander to score off the inside of the post.

It took another 25 minutes for the Clarets to double their lead as Callum Watson, in control of midfield throughout, easily beat his man and crossed for Callum Thompson to convert.

Gary Jeffery’s men put the result beyond any real doubt when Davey helped himself to number three, from a Thompson pass.

Exmouth were struggling to get into the game but young Launceston keeper Tom Watson was grateful to Chris Head for a superb 42nd minute clearance off the line, which kept the half-time score at 3-0.

On the hour, Davey rounded off another fine Launceston passing movement to make it 4-0 before completing an excellent hat-trick in the 72nd minute, drawing Moore and rolling the ball into an unguarded net.

Ollie Rowe did manage a conversation for the hosts but the Clarets were worthy winners ahead of Saturday’s visit of Godolphin Atlantic (3pm).

Plymouth Parkway 4

Camelford 0

REG?Hambly’s Camelford remain the only team to take points off runaway leaders Plymouth Parkway as they were hammered 4-0 in the return fixture at Bolitho Park.

The Camels produced the result of the season back in the autumn to beat Parkway 1-0, but found themselves four goals down at the break thanks to Mike Williams, Aaron Bentley, Ryan Lane and Glyn Hobbs’ penalty.

The Camels did well to keep the scoreline the same ahead of a crunch clash with Witheridge at Trefrew Park this Saturday (3pm).

Saltash United 12

Callington Town 0

BELEAGUERED Callington fell to the biggest margin of defeat in the Premier Division this season against the Ashes at Kimberley Stadium.

Ryan Richards and Sam Hughes both had quadruples with Paul Heveran not far behind with a hat-trick.

Sam Farrant grabbed the other goal to leave Callington to prepare for the visit of St?Austell on Saturday (3pm).

Division One (West)

Porthleven 1

A SECOND-HALF goal from Matt Drummond sent Holsworthy to a second consecutive defeat at Upcott Field against their promotion-chasing visitors.

The opening 45 minutes was a tight affair with chances at a premium.

The second-half was much more exciting with Jay Thomas and Joe Barker missing big chances for the hosts while home goalkeeper Ryan Walter twice needed to be at his best.

However the winner came when a ball over the top was spilled by Walter allowing Drummond to slot the ball into the net.

Despite further chances for both sides, Porthleven held on for a valuable three points.

Holsworthy player/manager Liam Dart said:?“Overall a draw would have been a fair result. We defended really well but we just couldn’t score when the chances presented themselves.”
