WADEBRIDGE Town have announced that Steve Flack has returned to the club as their new first team manager.
Steve, who returns to the Bodieve Park outfit for a third spell, will be ably supported by Matt Lloyd, Sam Gerken and Tom Harris. After starting his managerial career with Surrey side Walton and Hersham in the early 90’s, Flack moved to Cornwall in 1998.
His first two coaching roles in the county were with Truro City’s second and third team. Among the players he worked with at the club included his assistant Gerken when he was just 16 years old.
Flack then joined Wadebridge in 2011, before going on to manage Wendron United with Robin Watt and Foxhole Stars with Robin and John Peters. After returning to Wadebridge for a second time, he became the manager of Sticker in 2019 before stepping down in November 2023.
Steve returned to Truro in January 2024, where he joined the coaching staff to work alongside Jim Hilton and John Fabby, before departing earlier this season.
Speaking about his return to Wadebridge, Steve said: “There are some very good people here at club that I know well. I’m very optimistic as the core of the team is very strong. Its a difficult league to navigate but I’m confident we will be ok. I hope to finish as high up the league as possible and to establish a calm environment for players to perform with enthusiasm and belief.
Speaking about his three new assistants, he said: “All three have qualities as players and experience of combining this with creating a functional collect of players. I worked with Sam as a player at Truro City and Wadebridge Town before and I have come up against both Tom and Lloydy. Lloydy usually scored against the teams I was with!”
