South West Peninsula League - Premier West

Launceston 0 Holsworthy 4

Report by David Harrison

CRAIG Duff and Ben Sharpe scored twice each as Holsworthy eased to victory over their local rivals on a glorious spring afternoon at Pennygillam.

Kevin Squire’s team have now won three of their last four league games and this was their third clean sheet in four.

After an even opening period, Holsworthy moved in front after 17 minutes with a well-struck 12-yard volley by Duff, back at Holsworthy after a spell away.

Launceston, with Joe Moynan and Lee Robinson prominent, enjoyed their best spell of the game late in the first half, only for Duff to double the lead, turning in a deep cross from the right, following a good passing move.

Sharpe soon added a third, heading in unchallenged as the visitors effectively sealed the three points before half-time.

Holsworthy cruised through the second period but were only able to add one more goal when the pacey Sharpe neatly lobbed Clarets keeper Ollie Sidey from 20 yards.

A generally good-tempered affair ended with referee Andrew Barnett producing a flurry of late cards but nothing could disguise the fact that the Magpies were good value for their victory.

The Clarets now have a spare Saturday while Holsworthy will be hosting Callington Town in their next league game this weekend.
