South West Peninsula Premier

Launceston 1

Elburton Villa 1

THE Clarets were held to a draw at home to Premier division strugglers Elburton Villa on Saturday.

The point leaves Villa just out of the drop zone, while Launceston remain comfortable in mid-table.

This weekend the Clarets have a tough away trip to Torpoint Athletic who are currently lurking just below Launceston.

South West Peninsula Division One West

Bude Town 2

Wadebridge 1

BUDE Town jumped a place in the West Division as they beat Wadebridge 2-1 at Broadclose Park.

Star man Steve Box opened the scoring after ten minutes, taking on several defenders before cutting back and slotting high into the top left-hand corner of the net.

Bude doubled their advantage as Box’s freekick was met by Dan Starkey, who set up captain Liam Sandercock to bury the ball home.

Bude could have extended their lead but switched off and allowed Wadebridge a route back into the game five minutes before the break. After a well-taken freekick from Paul Cox, 17-year-old striker Jack Rapsey ran in and reduced the deficit with a fine finish.

The second half was a bit of a non-event, with the Bridgers coming closest to scoring when young Ryan Jones’ shot was superbly tipped over the bar by home goalkeeper Gary Dinshaw, but Bude triumphed to leapfrog Dobwalls into 11th place.

Holsworthy 1

Mousehole 3

MOUSEHOLE maintained their dominance at the top of Division One West, but this was a win secured in hard-earned fashion at Holsworthy.

The home side sniffed a surprise when Dom Abbott opened the scoring, but it merely acted as a catalyst to spur the leaders into action, and the dangerous Tim Nixon struck back with a leveller.

Mousehole then surged ahead with a goal from Luke Johnson, and three more points in their bid for the title were confirmed when Lewis Caspall made it 3-1, although Holsworthy can take a lot of heart from a strong display.
