East Cornwall Premier

Polperro 1

POLPERRO may still be top of the League but this defeat against a Launceston outfit, who looked doomed to relegation just a few weeks ago, has surely ended their hopes of winning the title.

Launceston took the lead when Tom Ellacott ran on to a through ball to smash it past the visiting goalkeeper before he had time to react.

Polperro quickly fought back to draw level through Colin Wilson but Launceston reacted well and regained the lead when Ellacott repeated his earlier goal by firing in a terrific left footed drive.

The victory was sealed later in the second half when captain Dan Tilley knocked

in an Ellacott cross into the net from close range.

Star man on the day, aside from Ellacott, was Launceston’s Chris Head, terrorising the visiting defence from the first whistle, and adding the class the

Clarets will need if they are to escape the drop.
