CAMELFORD Football Club rounded off their season on Saturday, May 10 with the Reg Hambly Testimonial match and annual presentation evening.
The legendary Camels boss stood down at the end of their SWPL Premier West campaign after 34 years in the role where he will be replaced by former midfielder Bobby Hopkinson, who has recently been assistant to Darren Gilbert at Liskeard Athletic.

To pay homage to his remarkable service, goalkeeper Josh Colwill organised a Current Camels versus Former Camels match at Trefrew Park which saw players from 17 to 62 don their boots, before heading down to The Granary in Wadebridge for the presentation.
On the pitch, it was another successful season as after a slow first half to the season, not helped by average availability and injuries, they climbed up the table to finish ninth.

With Hambly stepping down, the club as well as handing out the trophies for efforts on the pitch throughout the season, handed out salvers to Josh Colwill, Andy Boxall, Dan Balsdon, Tom Cowling, Charlie Hambly and Mark Gusterson in recognition of their long service to the club, as well as Hambly’s long-time assistant, Phil Brown.
The winners of the on-pitch awards were as follows: Players’ Player – Adam Sleep; Young Player and Supporters’ Player – Kenley Dyson; Manager’s Player – Josh Colwill; Top Goalscorer – Mark Gusterson.

Unsurprisingly, Hambly was named Club Person of the Year and was handed a commemorative plaque from the club, as well as mementos from the South West Peninsula League and Cornwall FA.
Reflecting on the day, Reg told the Post: “It was a fantastic day to be honest and I’m so grateful to everybody at the club and the current and old players for making the effort, it was great to see so many familiar faces around and I couldn’t have asked for a better send-off.”
