Rowett Insurance League Cup — Second Round
Camelford 2
Callington Town 3
CALLINGTON recovered from a two-goal half-time deficit to earn a place in the quarter-finals in what proved to be a close affair.
The match was switched to the Salt Mill 3G pitch in Saltash.
Camelford, with the wind at their backs, had the best possible start taking a 15th minute lead when a quick breakaway ended with Charlie Hambley scoring from just inside the penalty area.
It looked even better 15 minutes later when Christian Stafford ran on to a James Heywood through ball to make it 2-0 at half-time.
The second half saw Callington take advantage of the wind at their backs and deservedly reduced the arrears with a superb Lee Caers chip over the goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area.
Callington kept up the pressure and drew level when Mike Morrish set up Ryan Lucassi, who scored from close range.
The Camelford goalkeeper, who had made a number of good saves, then spilled a Tony Jane shot which the newly signed striker from Saltash United followed up to score what proved to be the winning goal, booking Callington’s place in the quarter-final stage.
