Kitchen Kit South West Peninsula League Premier West

Porthleven 4

A BRACE from Dan Stidwell condemned Camelford to a second consecutive home defeat at Trefrew Park.

The hosts trialled inside three minutes as Dan Richardson fired in from an indirect free-kick controversially awarded despite Leighton Carhart tackling his opponent and the ball then going back to Luke Gwillam, who picked it up.

That setback seemed to upset the Camels and Porthleven doubled their lead soon after, as a long ball out of defence was misjudged, allowing Stidwell to fire in.

Despite the scoreline, Camelford’s impressive midfield were dominating and pulled one back when good approach work from Josh Insley and Matt Andrew allowed Ed Harrison to fire into the far corner from 18 yards.

They soon levelled shortly after the half hour as Charlie Hambly’s throughball set away Joe Reeve who crossed for Andrew to volley in past a hapless Martyn Webster.

Camelford were on top but rarely troubled Webster besides a few long range shots, which he dealt with comfortably.

Porthleven defended well and went back in front on the hour as a deep cross from Joe Wright wasn’t dealt with, allowing Stidwell to poke the ball home.

They sealed the points in injury-time. As Camelford pushed all but one forward player for a corner, the ball was cleared allowing Stidwell to run towards goal. Although his shot was well saved, winger Kyle Fraser slotted home the rebound to seal the points for the Port.

Camelford have a tough test tomorrow when they head to title-chasing Saltash United (3pm).
