This Saturday sees a near full line-up across Devon and Cornwall with clubs desperate to get fixtures in.

Camelford have a difficult test at home to Premier West title-challengers Saltash United in the last 16 of the RGB Cornwall Senior Cup, but when the sides met at Trefrew Park earlier in the season, the Camels pushed the East Cornwall side close.

Holsworthy entertain Axminster Town at Upcott Field looking to move away from the lower echelons of SWPL Premier East. They’ve managed just a solitary home fixture since October 22.

With Callington Town and Launceston out of the Cornwall Senior Cup, they will both look to climb up the Premier West table.

Callington have an ideal chance to move above Penzance when the Magpies make the long trip up from West Cornwall.

Launceston make the long trip to the fishing village of Porthleven. The Fishermen have 22 points from 15 games to sit in 11th, five points better off than the managerless Clarets.

Six of the top nine play each other in St Piran League East. Fifth-placed Launceston Reserves go to fourth-placed Saltash United, just two points behind the Ashes.

Bude in seventh are eight points behind the Clarets. They welcome high-flying St Mawgan who could also find themselves in the top two if they win and Polperro lose.

Morwenstow are level on points with their neighbours Bude. They welcome Torpoint Athletic Reserves to the Morwenstow Playing Field, but have played just 11 league matches.

St Minver, fifth in the RRL East Cornwall Premier League, will hope for a favour from fellow Post area clubs North Petherwin and St Teath on Saturday.

While Minver head to strugglers Padstow United, Petherwin host leaders Foxhole and St Teath make the long trip to Plymouth to tackle a side who have dropped just five points from a possible 33.

The final stages of the group phase of the two Duchy Cup competitions are the main focus on Saturday.

In the Knockout Cup (for teams in the Premier and Division One) which sees clubs in groups of three, Altarnun will be crowned as winners of Group B if they win at Boscastle, who are two points behind.

Elsewhere, Premier leaders Gunnislake can all but guarantee their passage from Group C when they head to Foxhole Stars who they are level on points with. However ‘Gunny’ have a game in-hand.

Stoke Climsland have struggled in recent weeks but will win Group E if they beat Tregrehan Mills.

Tintagel head to Pensilva in a must-win game for them in Group G. Lifton have already won the group but Pensilva and the Greens are level on points. However the East Cornwall outfit have a better goal difference meaning Tintagel must win.

Southgate Seniors are already through in Group C of the Shoe Boy Duchy League Cup but will confirm their passage as winners if they win at St Cleer Reserves on Saturday.

Grampound and Boscastle Reserves will both take their place in the last 16, but it’s yet to be decided who will top the table. Both sides beat St Eval Spitfires but now face off twice in a fortnight with Boscastle on their travels first.

North Hill are out of the running in Group E with Delabole United and Gunnislake United Reserves vying for top spot. Delabole will seal top spot with a point at Gunnislake.

North Petherwin will win Group F if they grab a draw at St Mawgan Reserves in the final match of the group on Saturday.

Week St Mary are bottom of Group H with a game in-hand on St Columb Major and Bude Town Thirds, heading into their trip to St Columb Major.

St Columb are on six points with the two North Cornwall-based sides on three.

However victory for Week St Mary will mean Bude will have to win the group’s final match when they head to Week next weekend.

The North Devon League has been the heaviest hit in the Post area over the autumn months, but clubs will hope they can let their feet do the talking in 2020.

Bradworthy start the new year second bottom in the Premier Division and head to mid-table Boca Seniors.

Bideford Community and Barnstaple AFC have pulled out of the Senior Division, meaning there are just eight teams remaining.

With just 14 games, leaders Holsworthy, who have a game in-hand, could take a big step towards the title when they travel to Kilkhampton. When the two sides met earlier in the season, the Magpies ruined Kilk’s 100% record in a 3-2 win.

Shebbear United, who like Holsworthy reached the last 16 of the Devon Senior Cup, have played just one league fixture, a 10-0 win over Fremington Reserves. They welcome Landkey Town to South Close.

Bridgerule Reserves and their Morwenstow counterparts currently occupy the bottom two places in Intermediate Two and are set to meet next Saturday.

However before then they are both on their travels with the Greens heading to Braunton Fourths and Bridgerule making the three-hour round trip to Lynton.

Ashwater will look for their first points of the season when they travel to mid-table Braunton Fifths in Intermediate Three.

Halwill are enjoying a good season in Division Two of the Macron Devon and Exeter League, currently sitting sixth with 16 points from nine games. They will fancy their chances of moving up the table at Honiton Town Reserves, who are second from bottom.

Halwill Reserves are tenth in Division Three but have games in-hand on a number of teams above them. They host Lyme Regis Reserves at the Halwill Junction Playing Field.

See next week’s Post for all the scores.
