JUST?because the local football season isn’t in full swing at the moment, it doesn’t mean that clubs aren’t busy making preparations and raising money ahead of the upcoming season.

At Camelford Football Club, The Camels are extremely lucky to have Sam Brown who does plenty for the club.

Not only an under 15s player, Sam is also the club’s webmaster and match reporter, putting in hours to help out his beloved team.

This Sunday, Sam has organised an annual sponsored cycle ride. One route (7.8 miles) is from Wenford Bridge, St Breward to Scarlett’s Well Park in?Bodmin while there is an extra long one for those fancying their chances at the longer distance. Starting at Borough Arms in Dunmere, next to the Camel Trail route, cyclists will then travel to Wenford Bridge and then across to Scarlett’s Well Road to again finish in the park. This will cover 14.6 miles. Like last year there will be a BBQ in the park and people are encouraged to bring along their own food and a picnic if they want to stay around.

Last year with the weather so damp, £500 was raised, but with the weather looking decidely more summery this July, a larger total is hoped to be achieved.
