SOUTH WEST PENINSULA LEAGUE PREMIER WEST
Bude Town 0 Falmouth Town 1
BUDE Town’s six-match unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday as Falmouth Town Reserves ground out a 1-0 success at Broadclose Park.
The Seasiders had picked up 14 points from a possible 18 in recent weeks, but despite naming a strong side, found it tough from the outset against their mid-table opponents.
Bude made the early running but couldn’t find a way through, and after Town worked their way back into the contest, they took the lead 11 minutes before half-time when Jack Davies struck home from the edge of the box after a corner wasn’t properly cleared.
Bude utilised the strongest bench they’ve had all season with midfielders Nathan Colley and Archie Perrott brought on, as were attacking trio Rio Anderson, Piran Friend and Dylan Morgan, but try as they might, Falmouth hung on superbly, limiting the hosts to not a lot.
The closest Bude came was when returning frontman Ray Spear was denied, while Anderson caused some problems when he came on.
Bude are next in action on Wednesday night (7.30pm) when they visit a Callington Town side who won the reverse fixture 3-1 back in August, before they visit promoted Hayle on Saturday (3pm).
The Seasiders also announced this week that left-back Fin Haste had been awarded the club’s player of the month award for September.
He was given the unenviable task of replacing Finn Reeve following his surprise move to Morwenstow, however Haste has filled the shoes superbly, impressing in both attack and defence.
BUDE TOWN: Leam Powell; Ewan Reeves, James Wheeler, Harry Hopcroft (capt), Fin Haste; Jake Woodlamd, Harry Banks; Tega Olaosebikan, Billy Hopcroft, Harrison Swatton; Ray Spear. Subs: Dylan Morgan, Rio Anderson, Piran Friend, Nathan Colley, Archie Perrott.
Seasiders’ man-of-the-match: Harrison Swatton.
