THE revamped Duchy Football League gets underway on Saturday with nine games across the four divisions.
With some clubs moving into senior football following the FA restructuring, there are now four leagues — the Duchy Premier as well as divisions one to three.
Two Post area clubs clash at Forrabury Park in the top-flight as Boscastle welcome last year’s Duchy One champions Stoke Climsland.
They are two of six Post area clubs in the 13-team division alongside Altarnun, Gunnislake, St Breward and Tintagel.
Next weekend sees the other three start their campaigns with Altarnun getting started on Saturday, September 7 with a visit from Boscastle in the Duchy Knockout Cup.
In the second-tier, Lifton welcome Polperro Reserves looking to build on last year’s mid-table finish in Division Two.
St Minver Reserves are the other local side in the 11-team league, and head to their Foxhole Stars counterparts on September 7.
Southgate Seniors and last year’s Duchy Four champions Bude Town Reserves are in action on the opening day in Division Two, which includes six Post area sides.
Lostwithiel Reserves make the trip to the Launceston College Playing Fields to tackle Southgate while Bude Town make the trip down the A39 to St Eval Spitfires.
August 31 sees Bude welcome old rivals Week St Mary in the Shoeboy Duchy League Cup while on the same day, Lifton seconds welcome St Eval to the Recreation Ground.
There is a midweek affair at Hannaford Park on Wednesday, September 4 as Boscastle Reserves head to Week St Mary while North Hill start their season with a League Cup tie at Division Three newcomers Gunnislake Reserves on September 7.
The bottom league, like Division Two, consists of 12 teams, this time with four Post area outfits.
Two of those start their campaign this Saturday as reformed Bude Town thirds go to Grampound. North Petherwin Reserves, boosted by some arrivals from Southgate, welcome their St Dominic counterparts, who are another new team to the league.
Gunnislake Reserves’ first game is against North Hill in the League Cup while Delabole United entertain St Columb Major on September 14.
