Launceston Cup semi-final (played at Pennygillam, Launceston)
Boscastle 2
Altarnun 0
BOSCASTLE will take on Dobwalls in Sunday’s Launceston Cup final after beating Duchy League One side Altarnun 2-0 at Pennygillam.
First-half goals from James Bosley and Rob Heal’s penalty meant they still have a shot of earning promotion from Duchy Two and winning the Launceston Cup in the same season.
Boscastle started the game quickly and took the lead after ten minutes when James Bosley raced clear of the Altarnun defence before planting a low shot into the bottom right-hand corner.
Altarnun, who had endured a difficult campaign in suffering relegation from Duchy One, were all over the place at the back and conceded a penalty from handball.
Captain Rob Heal beat Nick Oldaker in the Altarnun goal to put them 2-0 up after just 20 minutes.
Altarnun struggled to make headway in the game as Boscastle continued to dominate through to half-time.
After the interval Boscastle should have scored a couple more goals through Martin Heal but he unluckily had a long-range effort bounce in the penalty area and then over the crossbar with Oldaker beaten, before his next shot was well saved by Oldaker after a good move saw three Boscastle players break through the Altarnun defence.
A good crowd of over 150 watched the game in pleasant sunshine.
Kick-off for next Sunday’s final is again at 6pm.
