THE East Cornwall League added two members — Altarnun and Gunnislake — for the 2021/22 campaign at their AGM on Tuesday night (June 15).

With St Dominick and Mount Gould taking promotion up to Step Seven, the league had two vacancies.

St Dominick have gone into the St Piran League, where they will compete against the likes of Bude Town, Morwenstow, Callington Town Reserves and Launceston Reserves, while Plymouth-based Mount Gould have joined the Devon Football League.

Altarnun’s promotion caps off a wonderful couple of years for the Tresibbett-based club.

They have led the last two Duchy Premier League seasons before both were curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and last month won the Launceston Cup, thrashing Boscastle 7-1 in the final.

Gunnislake will also play at Step Eight. They had 11 points from five Duchy Premier League games and also competed in the end of season East Cornwall League Covid Cup as a replacement, where they more than held their own.

Gunnislake also hosted Altarnun in a friendly in April, which the Nuns won 1-0.
