BUDE made a disappointing start to their league campaign as they went down by six tries to one against Truro on a warm and sunny late summer's afternoon at St Clements Hill last Saturday.

The opening quarter was pretty even, with both sides looking sharp in attack, but defensively, not surprisingly, a little rusty after the summer's break.

However, after the visitors lost their influential tighthead prop and player coach Adam Black, with what appeared to be a broken right arm, the home side gradually took control and by the final whistle were well in command.
