BOND TIMBER CORNWALL CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION TWO EAST
Tintagel v Bude
RYAN Pooley’s all-round brilliance gave Tintagel a third victory of the season with a 125-run success over winless Bude.
After being sent in on a fine pitch and tiny straight boundaries, the Knights got off to a flying start through Australian Leo Agacy and skipper Matt Jolliffe.
Agacy was dropped by a diving Charlie Hoban (2-43) in the twenties, a moment which also saw the New Zealander heavily bruise his thumb which stopped him from batting later on.
Agacy struck seven fours and five sixes in his 62, but once he departed, caught at long-on by Wayne Adams off Hoban’s off-spin, it allowed Pooley to thrash a 51-ball ton which ended with him smashing nine fours and 10 massive sixes in his 113 off just 57 deliveries.
Jolliffe made a composed 47 before being run-out at the non-strikers end, while Jordan Burnard’s patient 36 not out and bits and pieces from the rest saw Tintagel rack up an imposing 338-6.
Needing more than 7.5 runs per over from the outset, Bude openers Matt Williams and Wayne Adams got off to a flyer, putting on 101 inside 15 overs.
However, the excellent Gyles Reynolds (3-29) bowled Adams (44) and Matthew Mansbridge in three balls, which was followed in the next over by skipper Warren Rumble holing out to Jack Minehan on the deep square-leg boundary off Pooley for nought.
It soon became 120-5 including Williams falling for an excellent 60 (eight fours, two sixes) to Pooley (4-58), and although Andrew De Rosa (25) and Harry Dymond (14) briefly rallied, it required a 37-run stand for the final wicket between David Sillifant (22) and Brandon Forsyth (10no) to secure maximum batting points.
Fourth-placed Tintagel visit Werrington Seconds on Saturday (1pm), while joint bottom Bude are away to Lanhydrock.
