WERRINGTON Thirds fell to a second defeat of the season in Division Four as they were beaten by four wickets at Lanhydrock Seconds.

David Harland (3-26) did the early damage for the Bodmin-based club, meaning Werrington needed the experience of Paul Miller (68) and skipper Ian Worsnip (52) to get Werrington up to 188-9.

Dan Inman made an important 17 not out at the end.

The visitors were favourites when Lanhydrock fell to 72-5 which included 2-27 from Inman, but Ryan Butler smacked 71 not out as the winning runs came with 15 balls to spare. Matthew Gilmour took 2-32 from five overs as Werrington dropped down to third in the table.

Launceston Seconds made it three wins on the spin in completed matches as they won by 41 runs at their Holsworthy counterparts in Division Five East.

Third team captain Kevin Worth opened the batting and struck 11 fours and three sixes in his 105 as they amassed 203 all-out, the majority of which came in partnership with Danny Sloman (47).

Skipper Ryan Bridgeman took 5-30 for the hosts, while Ryan Seymour-Smith chipped in with 3-44.

Shane Davey (2-18 off 10) struck twice early on and although surviving opener Nick Ward (21) and Seymour-Smith (46) gave them half a chance, wickets continued to fall including four to skipper Josh Theobald (4-37).

Tony Jonny hung around for 34 not out as they closed on 162-8 to ensure a fourth batting point.

St Minver Seconds had a day to forget at Buckland Monachorum as they went down by nine wickets having been dismissed for just 55.

Nobody made more than Charlie Edwards’ 13, while 18 extras helped.

Brendan Ward got the sole wicket in the reply which lasted just 7.2 overs.
