PROVIDED the weather plays ball, and it’s a big if, both Holsworthy and Werrington Seconds will look to reach the Eden Motorhomes Division Two T20 Cup Finals Day for the first time when they face off in the quarter-final at Stanhope Park later (6pm).

Both sides are in the competition – which started back in 2018 – for the first time this year with the Trees having never entered before, while Werrington were in County Division One before relegation last summer.

However a golden opportunity awaits both, with a trip to Redruth in late August the prize.

Holsworthy, who beat Bude and South Petherwin to get through, are at full strength including having North Devon’s Fred King and Hatherleigh’s Jasper Presswell in the side.

Fortunately for T20 skipper Matt Shepherd, Saturday opening batsman Jack May and spinner Graham Wild choose not to play the shortest format, else some real decisions would had to have been made.

Werrington Seconds won the Isaac Foot Cup at Callington on Sunday and head up there with a strong side.

However they have to do without several players including batsmen Tom Lyle and Hugh Tomkinson and pacemen Jordan Duke and Keith Maynard.

But the strength in-depth at Ladycross means they should be competitive as they look to build on victories over Callington Seconds and Luckett. See next week's paper for a report on the game.
