LAUNCESTON Seconds still have some work to do to survive in Division Five after losing by 29 runs at home to mid-table Gunnislake.

Brett Grosvenor (3-19) and Peter West (3-61) restricted Gunni to 145 all out, but nobody made more than Johnny Knight’s 23 in reply.

Holsworthy Seconds were beaten by 98 runs at all high-flying Lanhydrock Seconds.

Adam Lovejoy (3-31) and Ryan Smith (4-53) kept the hosts to 222 all out, but only Lewis Chidley (30) and Dan Marks (29no) really contributed in their 124-9.

South Petherwin Seconds are within nine point of second in Division Six as for the second time in three weeks they saw openers James Cawsey and skipper Richard Watson make centuries.

They racked up a huge 361-1 at home to their Bude counterparts with Cawsey making 113 and Ollie Peterson 55 not out in support of Watson’s 158 not out which contained 25 fours and two sixes.

Mike Ellis (36) and Graham Cartledge (32) made thirties in the Seasiders’ 179 all out as Peterson took 5-33.

St Minver Seconds secured safety as they beat St Austell Fourths by eight wickets having dismissed the visitors for just 55, while Werrington Fourths beat fellow mid-table side Tintagel Seconds by three wickets.

Tintagel were held to 180-8 thanks to Nick Oldaker’s 5-35 as Joe Parsons (48), Chris Lovegrove (34) and Neil Hann (27) got starts.

The visitors were then led home by Gavin Wallis (41), Ian Wills (46) and 50 not out from Grace Kirby as Vedavyas Kankanala claimed 3-41.

Launceston Thirds were thrashed by their visiting Luckett counterparts in Division Seven.

Andrew Baker (24) and Edward Mansfield (21) helped the hosts reach 101 all out before Martin Budge (51no) and young Josh Sample (33no) knocked off the runs.
