Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League preview for Saturday, July 13

WERRINGTON will get the chance to close the gap on the top two in the ECB Cornwall Premier League when they head to second-placed Redruth on Saturday.

The defending champions are currently 24 points behind the Reds but a convincing win should see them at least half that heading into the final eight games.

Callington make the long trip to St Just 19 points above bottom side Falmouth. Their hosts on Saturday are enduring a poor season by their standards, sitting seventh, a far cry from their glory days when they won six consecutive titles from 2004 to 2009.

In the second-tier (County Division One), Werrington seconds will look to climb out of the relegation zone when they welcome leaders Camborne to Ladycross.

Werrington, who occupy the second relegation spot, are currently three points behind neighbours Launceston who welcome improving Helston to Lawhitton.

In Division Two East, Isaac Foot Cup champions Luckett welcome unbeaten leaders Newquay to Chapel Field after losing at bottom side St Erme last weekend, while mid-table Bude go to second-placed Tideford and struggling St Minver welcome Roche.

It’s derby day in Division Three East with four of the six Post area sides squaring off.

Bude seconds entertain Holsworthy who have won all 13 of their fixtures so far, while sliding South Petherwin entertain bottom club Launceston seconds, who are in danger of becoming cut off from the rest of the division.

Bude, South Petherwin and Launceston will all hope for favours from Callington and St Blazey as they entertain second-bottom Boconnoc and Tintagel respectively.

Luckett seconds have shown a vast improvement in recent weeks although that’ll be put to the test at Division Four East leaders Saltash St Stephens.

If they can pull off a surprise, Werrington thirds will hope to close the gap at the top as they welcome their Grampound Road counterparts.

Elsewhere, Delabole, fresh off beating previous leaders Bugle last weekend, head to Duloe.

In Division Five East, Milton Abbot host Pencarrow while South Petherwin seconds go to their St Erme counterparts.

In the basement division, leaders St Minver seconds travel to St Stephen seconds, Tintagel seconds host Werrington fourths, Launceston head to Wheal Eliza to tackle St Austell fourths and Gunnislake entertain Menheniot-Looe thirds.
