ANTONY Ash’s unbeaten 101 propelled St Minver to a high-scoring victory over Duloe in Division Three East of the Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League on Saturday.

In a game reduced to 35 overs, Ash and skipper Ben Hawken (28) got the home innings off to a flyer as they raced to 58 in the ninth over before the latter departed.

Jake Keast was out for seven, but Ash, who struck 10 fours and three sixes in his 94-ball knock was joined by South African overseas player Alex Scullard who took the attack to the bowlers in a stand of 143.

Scullard’s 88 came from just 63 balls but Ash managed 16 off the final over to reach his century, including a four off the final ball in a total of 264-3.

Duloe saw dangerman Aaron Conway thrash 49 from just 33 balls, but partnerships were regularly broken as they were held to 223-9. All six home bowlers took a wicket, including a brace apiece for Rob Hawken (2-29 off 5) and Ash (2-33).

Both Holsworthy Seconds and their Bude counterparts saw their home games beat the weather and played as 36-over matches.

Holsworthy were well beaten by their Lanhydrock counterparts in Division Five. The Trees were held to just 88-9, the best being 19 apiece from Jack May and Rhys Smith. Adam Lovejoy and Liam Brend took a wicket in reply.

South Petherwin Seconds eased to a 71-run success at Bude in Six East.

Thirties from skipper Richard Watson (38), Ian Clements (36) and Adrian Martin (34) propelled the visitors to 189-7 despite 4-49 from Mike Taylor. Mark Whitefield (2-28) and Mike Ellis (0-25) gave little away.

The home reply never got started as they ground their way to 118-6. Joe Gliddon made 30 as Petherwin’s bowlers proved frugal.

All games in Division Seven East were called off bar Launceston Thirds conceding their clash to their Luckett counterparts.
