CRACKINGTON A?missed the chance to make up ground on Helland B at the bottom of Division One of the North Cornwall Table Tennis League as they lost twice last week.
Last Wednesday they visited Torridge and fell to a 7-3 defeat as Dave Streak kept up his 100% record since moving down to the area over the summer.
There were also two victories for Dave Stone and a solitary success for Jill Knightley while Frank Barnes won two of his outings.
Judith Cook picked up a rare win over Knightley.
Twenty-four hours later they were back in action with a home game against Budehaven A.
Again the scoreline was the same with Helen Murgatroyd returning to form since coming back from her travels. She won all three of her outings and dropped just one game in the process to Frank Barnes.
Barnes enjoyed a long evening, winning two final-game deciders including coming from 2-0 down to defeat?Denis Hough and edging a thriller with Dave Salisbury in a contest which saw two of the games go to 15-13 and 16-14 respectively.
Salisbury got the better of his opponents in his other outings while Hough and Cook picked up a point for their team each.
In Division Two, Budehaven B made it back-to-back 10-0 victories as they beat North Hill B while fourth-placed Budehaven C won for the first time in a few weeks with a comfortable 8-2 success at bottom club Bridgerule A.
Anthony Ward won all of his matches including a final set showdown with Alan Quilter who picked up the home side’s points in victories over Andrew Ward and Chris Mill.
The Budehaven duo did comfortably win against Jay Brewer and Ray Bewes.
The other game last week saw Altarnun comfortably dispose of Launceston, 7-3 at Altarnun Village Hall.
All of the visiting players won a match each with Paul?Burden the star of the show for the hosts.
He won all three with the rest of their points coming from Alex Whitfield (2), Geoff Hale and the doubles.
Budehaven E are now the clear favourites for the Division Three title after thrashing nearest challengers Crackington C, 5-0. They dropped just one game all night as they now lead by four points with a game in-hand.
There was a comfortable victory for Budehaven D over Budehaven F in the inter-club battle.
Cayden Gill won his outings in straight sets while Ezra Jukes picked up the D team’s solitary point.
