THE Year 10 Cricket team from Callington Community College represented Cornwall in the English School National Cricket Cup first round on April 28, playing Devon at Shebbear College.

This was the first time that Callington has represented Cornwall at Cricket.

After being greeted by the school cricket master and headteacher, Captain Luke Brenton lost the toss and Callington were put into bat.

After 30 overs a weary and tired Shebbear College left the field and the scoreboard was looking very positive for the Cornish, which read:

Cornwall (Callington) 291 for 1, Toby May 126 not out, Luke Brenton 113 and Josh Murray-Dustan 20.

After a superb tea in the school hall, the Year 10s took to the field where excellent bowling by all ten bowlers ensured that Callington won by a staggering 107 runs.

In the next round Callington play Sherborne College — Champions of Dorset.
