CALLINGTON and Torpoint gained a clean sweep in the Cornish Petanque Championships held at Truro on Sunday, June 12.
The event is an annual tournament organised by The Twinning Committee for Cornwall and involves communities that have twin towns across Brittany.
After the round-robin of morning matches, the main competition saw Torpoint C and Torpoint B meet in one semi-final and Truro A and B in the other.
In the all Torpoint match, the C team of Ann Ellis, Ewart Hodge and Dave Ellis overcame the B team 13 – 9 while Truro A (Bill Anderson, Anne Moodie and Mike Polkinghorne) beat the B team 13-3.
In the final, the easterners overcame the team from the capital 13-9.
In the plate, Callington met Saltash B in the final and the team of Andrew Long, Sue Lumley and Rick Lumley came out 13-7 winners.
