ON MONDAY, June 22, Callington Community College's U15 cricket team won the County Cricket Final against Truro School.
Due to bad weather the venue for the game was changed to Truro School to prevent the outcome being decided upon by a coin toss.
This was the fourth final in as many years that the team had managed to reach as a result of hard work and team spirit.
Callington were put in to bat first, and although securing 17 runs in the first two overs, they were eventually bowled all out for 60 — the lowest score ever recorded in a county final.
Not down beat about the score at the half way mark, Callington devised a plan to win the game — though many spectators thought a miracle was the more likely way of turning things around.
However, the bowling attack strategy seemed to work as Truro wickets fell. Most notable of all bowlers was the input of new county bowler Josh Murray-Dustan who bowled four of the best overs of swing bowling of his career, despatching four wickets for only two runs.
The game did come down to the wire though, with two wickets still needed with time running out.
