Trelawney Division One
Duchy 4
Bude 5
BUDE’s last game before Christmas saw them edge past Camborne-based Duchy in a nine-goal thriller away from home.
Bude, missing three key players, saw Di Olde and Rachel Pomeroy come into the side and their contribution was invaluable.
Bude opened the scoring when Zara Higham smashed home a reverse stick shot after some lovely stick work from Tammy Snowsill-Messenger and Olde.
Duchy, who were only one point behind Bude in the table, turned the game around and within minutes were level.
The home side were rampant in attack and Duchy scored from a well worked short corner and then again when a shot through a crowd of players found the back of the net to make it 3-1.
The visitors didn’t give up. Erinne Bickle slotted home Charlotte’s Prime’s cross before Katharine Muller made it all square at the break.
Bude made more chances after the break and took the lead through Bickle again.
Duchy piled forward once more, and were awarded a penalty flick which they scored from to seemingly salvage a point.
But with just four minutes left, Bude grabbed a winner through the in-form Prime to make it an unbeaten start to the season in Trelawney Division One.
