BRADWORTHY-based Chloe Baker has been crowned the Ladies 50/50 champion in the ACU Belle Trailers British Trials Championship.

Chloe, 20, recently ended the seven-round season with her fifth victory, which was achieved at Torridge Downhill Motorcycle Club at Keypitts Farm near Ilfracombe.

She started riding at the age of 12 and decided to ride further afield a few years ago at the age of 17 in the British Championship. Going on to win her first national trial at North Berks in 2016, that gave Chloe a taste.

Three years later and many cross country miles later, she has landed herself the title of British Ladies 50/50 champion.

Weekdays are spent as an apprentice paralegal with the aim to become a solicitor at Peter, Peter & Wright and spare weekends riding for local clubs.

Chloe has had support from her local clubs, Launceston MCC and Torridge and District MCC along with Steve Saunders (TRS UK Ltd) and Michael Minns (Merlin Sidecars).

Over the next couple of years, Chloe is hoping to partake in the infamous Scottish Six Day Trial and some other national events.

Trials is a sport where a rider on a specialised motorcycle rides their machine over a series of obstacles/hazards within a marked out section which tests his/her skill. The rider will use their balance and throttle control to manoeuvre their machine through the section the best they can in order to pass the hazards without failure and incurring penalty points.

Chloe says: “This is a fun motorsport which anybody could get in to. It teaches excellent motorcycle control and in turn can be taken onto other motorcycle sports.

“It’s an unusual sport for women and girls, but its great to see a growing number of girls and ladies finding interest in this fantastic motorsport.”
