BOSCASTLE and Crackington Gig Club competed in the Appledore Supervets Regatta recently.
The event, which takes place in the North Devon town, was held over two days and is for Over 50s gig rowers, has become popular with Boscastle entering both a men’s and ladies team.
After a poor start on the Saturday in the sunny weather, they returned on the Sunday in the fog and rain, to compete in the Plate finals.
The men won their group with ease, and after winning their sprint race and coming second in the bouy turns race, while the ladies team were runners-up in their group.
The men were presented with winners medals while the ladies picked up a framed certificate. Special thanks were expressed to Matt Chubb and Phoebe Millar for coxing the teams.
The club is now busy preparing for its own regatta at Boscastle on Saturday, June 29.
