Boscastle and Crackington Gig Club
ALMOST 40 members of Boscastle and Crackington Gig Club travelled to the Isles of Scilly to take part in the World Championships over the Bank Holiday weekend.
All three of their wooden gigs, Torrent, Golden Gear and Rival, had been transported over and were ready and waiting for them.
The Men’s A team achieved an amazing result, coming in 24th overall, out of over 150 boats, with the Ladies’ A team taking the 44th position.
Both teams won their heats, gaining promotion to a higher group, which was very exciting for the club.
The Bs, Cs, and Veterans teams also produced some excellent results, which made for an incredible club effort overall.
Club Chairman, Phoebe Millar, who rowed for the Ladies A team, and coxed the Mens A team, was delighted with the results.
She said that the club was very much looking forward to more success in the summer regattas, with the next one taking place at Rock on May 29.
