Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club race report — August 16
Tamar 6
A GLASSY Lake with tiny puffs of wind left sixteen skippers competing in the Tamar Cup drifting about somewhere near the start.
When the horn sounded Vicki Duncalf was unlucky enough to find herself the wrong side of the line.
Jane Anderson was the first to reach the Dam Green mark and continued to sail away as though there really was a wind. The race was shortened to one lap but even Jane took fifty minutes to complete it.
When the handicaps were applied John Dabbs in his Gull achieved a notable second place above the Lasers of Bob Sampson, Sue Murray, Jane Chadney and James Pollard.
Six of the others retired, exhausted by the effort of looking for non-existent wind.
