RGB Building Supplies has selected the Launceston-based Oksigen Theatre as a finalist in its Well Built Community Fund and it’s now down to a public vote to see if it’s chosen to receive £1,000 of building materials.

Oksigen Theatre provides acting and singing lessons to children aged between five and 15. Each year it puts on a performance at Launceston Town Hall, giving the children the opportunity to perform in public.

If the theatre is voted as the Community Fund winner, it will purchase materials to build the staging and scenery for this year’s performance of Pinocchio, which is taking place in November.

Oksigen Theatre is up against Cornwall BMX Racing Club in Truro and K9Focus in Torrington.

Branch manager at RGB Launceston, Tony Jackman, said: “Our Well Built Community Fund continues to prove extremely popular and once again we were inundated with nominations from schools, community groups, projects and charities from the region, so congratulations to Oksigen Theatre for being chosen as a finalist. As the local branch, we’re encouraging people in the area to get involved and vote for them.”

Votes can be cast by visiting RGB’s Launceston branch during opening hours and placing a chip in the relevant box, by clicking the chosen group on the poll that will be at the top of RGB’s Facebook page, or by emailing [email protected] and putting the name of the group being voted for in the subject line.

The vote started on Monday, September 25 and runs until this Sunday (October 8).

Votes cast outside these dates will not be counted while only one vote per person via each method of voting will be counted.

The winner of the £1,000 of building materials will be the group that receives the most votes.
