IT was heartwarming to read the comments of Peter Harwood (The 'Post,' May 21) following his attendance at a concert in Padstow by some choirs participating in the recent festival of choirs based in Truro.

He devoted special praise to a group of teenage boys from Wales, referring to their singing as of "the highest quality which stole the show, prompting a standing ovation." The excellent singing was matched by smiles and outstanding stage presentation.

As some readers may recall, I have been associated with Welsh choirs for many years, and it is reassuring to read that there are young people sustaining the principality's great tradition. Full marks, too, to the Cornish initiative in promoting such a unique biennial festival.

The Welsh title of the group 'Isgod Cerdd Ceredigion' translates literally 'School Music, Cardiganshire.'

The journey to Cornwall from the western reaches of Wales, over a short weekend, probably self-financed, would have involved around 600 miles. 'Da Iawn, Cymru' ('Well done, Wales').
