ALMOST 200 young people were screened at the recent CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) event at Bude.

The screening event was held this year at The Haven medical centre in the grounds of Budehaven School and was organised by the Luckett family of Hartland, whose son Martyn died in July 2005 from an undiagnosed heart condition.

Since then they have been fundraising in his memory, and money raised has funded appointments for the annual testing of young people, aged between 14 and 35.

A team from CRY was on hand over the weekend of March 8 and 9, to carry out simple ECG tests on the 198 attendees, to check for any abnormalities.
