YOUNG carers have enjoyed a relaxing day’s coarse fishing thanks to a local angler who contacted Carewise, a project that supports young carers in Holsworthy and across North Devon.

Simon Perry contacted Carewise offering a day’s coarse fishing for the young people the project supports.

With help from volunteer coaches Roli Palmer and John Holmes and the Angling Trust organisation, Simon delivered the session recently at Oaktree Fisheries near South Molton.

Carewise project worker, Jim Harvey, said: “The children had a brilliant day out all learning new skills in a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere — an ideal situation giving them respite from their caring roles and worries.

“Carewise would like to thank Simon, Roli, John and Dean from the Angling Trust and of course Carewise volunteer Nick Underwood for giving the children this fantastic opportunity.”
