IT’S that time of year again when Camelford Young Farmers carry out their dung bagging and dung sale, all in the name of charity.

Around 20 young farmers met on a cold Wednesday evening last week to help bag up around 400 bags of dung ready for the sale on Sunday.

Orders were up from last year and the club sold out in a few places within an hour.

The group visited Camelford, Delabole, Tintagel and Boscastle and they sold out in every location by 2pm.

Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a delicious carvery at the Wilsey Down pub, Hallworthy, which was a good way to end a hard day’s work.

All proceeds from the day will be going to charity — Cancer Research UK and the Happy Hospital Children’s Fund — both of which are close to the club and family and friend’s hearts.

Club chairman Becky Cornelius said: “Selling the dung on Sunday wasn’t a hard job when you look back and think wow, all that money is going to charity and we as a club did that to not only help the charities but help the local community with their gardens.

“A massive thank you to everyone who bought dung this year and thank you to the people that didn’t want any dung, but donated anyway.

“Also, thank you to all members and drivers who took their time to deliver to all four locations.”

The club raised £680 from the dung run.

Becky added: “We’ve had a successful year so far so keep up the fantastic work everyone.

“We have a lot of fun meetings coming up we meet every Wednesday so if you would like to become a member of our fun, bubbly club and are over the age of 11 please contact me on 07584 226406.”
