EVER thought about running away with the circus?
How about volunteering at a vintage undercover working fairground?
Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre, near Lifton, is holding a volunteer recruitment day this Saturday, May 14.
Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre is run by a charitable trust, founded in 1986 to preserve and present historic fairground heritage. Their collection of fairground art and artefacts is indisputably world class and the most comprehensive and important in the country.
They are seeking lively, outgoing, friendly people to engage with visitors and enhance their experience at the fairground heritage centre as either a steward or an operations assistant. If you have worked with children, so much the better.
A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes so opportunities also exist for those with a trade or skill to offer in carpentry, painting, electrical work, IT, conservation and admin.
On the day you will be shown round, see things you would not have seen, or noticed, before and be provided with refreshments, as well as the opportunity to talk to staff.
You will be mentored and supervised by their museum staff and become part of a team of enthusiastic volunteers with hours to suit you.
Interested? In first instance, apply to curatorial manger, Nick Sturgess, by e-mail at [email protected] or phone the museum on 01566 783425 to book your place on the days.
Alternatively, just turn up on the day and they will fit you in.
